The summer solstice in 2015 coincides with the very first International Yoga Day sponsored by The United Nations.
Sunday 21 June 2015, the summer solstice and longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere, will be celebrated around the world as the first International Yoga Day sponsored by the United Nations.
According to yoga lore, the first full moon after the summer solstice is when the first transmission of yoga is said to have taken place.
Iyengar yoga students in all parts of the world will use this day to honour both yoga and our teacher BKS Iyengar.
