Classes start next week
A Seasonal Stretch!
Between Christmas and New Year this will be the last yoga morning of 2015, so don’t miss it!
What a wonderful way to enjoy a chilly winter morning. A three hour practice is a great way to deepen your yoga experience. And don’t worry – three hours won’t be exhausting! The class is carefully paced, we start with pranayama then progress to asana practice with plenty of time for relaxing asanas at the end.
Put the date in your diary and come along and join us on:

Sunday morning with chairs
Enhancing our yoga practice with chairs was the theme of our extended practice on Sunday and it’s amazing what a good teacher the chair is!
Using the chairs we worked to improve and maintain the correct alignment in various standing poses – the chairs also helped us to explore the asanas in more depth.
Eyal Shifroni’s book A Chair for Yoga has a wealth of information in how to use this prop. Do take a look!

Keep on stretching…
It can be very frustrating when, after committing to yoga and coming to classes every week, it all comes to a stop for the summer months… all the work that’s gone into building strength and flexibility and now a long break!
Well, here’s the good news – this year all the yoga classes I teach will continue through August – so you can keep on stretching!
International Yoga Day Celebrations
Celebrations around the world mark the first International Yoga Day and, coinciding with this first international event, the Iyengar Yoga Convention is taking place in Exeter this weekend – great timing!
Take a look at how the celebrations in India are being reported on the BBC news – wouldn’t it be great if Western leaders followed Prime Minister Modi’s lead?
Today being the summer solstice it’s a great opportunity to practise Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation). This sequence of eight poses is traditionally performed every morning, facing the sun, to greet the new day.
